Fat Loss for Dancing NOT Weight Loss
Fat loss instead of weight loss for dancing, eh? So, as I look in the mirror, I wonder just how am I going to get rid of this fat? Working out like a crazy person hasn't really done it... although I love that part. According to my trainer, the fat will come off when I start eating more, smaller, low glycemic meals every day. I have read the articles, I have googled my fingers purple and everything agrees with him. So, I conceed. I will lose fat by eating more. No time like the present. First off, I needed to learn about low glycemic foods: what does this mean and how will I know what they are? Googling away, I came across several sites, each has a list of foods and their glycemic rating. This first one is easier to play with. This second one has a better explanation of the glycemic index, more complete foods list and fun, realistic recipes. Ok, so now I know what I can eat, it looks ok, I can handle that. But, how do I actually go about doing this? Do I just randomly pick a time of day,and are there foods that are better at certain times of day than others. And how much do I eat? How do I combine them for best results. I was starting to get pretty frustrated, and my trainer told me to quit over thinking it. While surfing, I found a program that sounded intriguing. After I researched it, I signed up, read their manual and experimented with their diet generator. I liked their philosophy and agree with it for the most part. It has a steady, slower loss plan as well as a fast track plan for those of us with less patience. Click here to get more info and I will let you know in these pages how I do on it. The diet generator selects from a foods list that is low-medium glycemic, so I think I got it all covered! I did run it by my trainer and he says that it is acceptable to him, although he does stress that exercise is a very important part of any fat loss plan. No worries there, if I could, I would work out to live. Oh well, balance, right? At any rate, he has designed a specific work out plan for me that focuses on fat loss vs health maintenance. My only other concern was that I don't have time to shop and cook for my family now, let alone doing it for each individual with totally separate nutritional plans. After I looked at the foods list, I realized that this is probably what we should all be eating in the first place. I have already done my shopping, and it was quicker and easier than normal. My list kept me on the outside ring of the store. Not once did I need to go through the inside aisles. I spent roughly the same amount as I normally do. I ended up swapping the junk food that we like for the more expensive fruits and veggies, so it was an even exchange. Don't forget to check out those beginning photos and be kind, not necessarily one of my prouder moments. But, hey, start today or start tomorrow, right! Please join me and share your own experiences and struggles. Submit your comments on the blog and I will transfer them to this page. Remember that my goal with the Shimmy Chronicles is to empower, encourage and support all of us, so align your comments with this goal please. Thanks and see you tomorrow for the first day of my great new fat loss plan.
